Bernard Schwartz, born in New York City, changed his name to Tony Curtis when he became an actor. He worked in various genres to to avoid being type cast. He appeared in light comedies such as Goodbye Charlie, Some Like It Hot and Little Miss Marker. He played in epic films including Spartacus and Taras Bulba, in westerns Kansas Raiders, and Winchester ‘73, and the psychological role of “Albert DeSalvo” in the Boston Strangler. His most recent film is David & Fatima where he plays the role of…”Mr. Schwartz”.
Tony Curtis said: “I was 22 when I arrived in Hollywood. I had more action than Mount Vesuvius-men, women, animals!. I loved it too. I participated where I wanted to and didn’t where I didn’t. I’ve always been open about it.” That statement seems to lead to more questions than answers Mr. Curtis!

Thomas Mark Harmon came to this earth in Burbank, CA. His father is University of Michigan football All-American and Heisman Trophy winner, Tom Harmon.
Mainly a television personality, Harmon has done recurring guest star roles on series such as Flamingo Road, St. Elsewhere, Moonlighting, Reasonable Doubts, Chicago Hope, and The West Wing. He is currently playing the role of “Special Agent Jethro Gibbs” on Navy NCIS.
Before becoming an actor Mark Harmon was a carpenter. He says it is the only job other than acting that he looked forward to going to every morning because “you’re doing something different every day”. Acting was possibly a better choice, though. It probably pays more.

David Lee Roth, original lead singer of Van Halen, was born in Bloomington, IN. Roth appeared with the band from the late 70’s to the mid-1980’s. During this time, Van Halen’s albums reached Diamond, and multi-Platinum status and their concerts were huge sellouts. After leaving the band in 1985 Roth rejoined in 2007 for a North American tour that was the highest grossing tour in the band’s history.
David Lee Roth, known for his overblown and outrageous on- and off-stage behavior, was described by the Rolling Stone Record Guide Vol. 2 as “the most obnoxious singer in human history, an achievement notable in the face of long tradition and heavy competition”.
According to David Lee Roth: “I don’t get all the women that I want…I get all the women that want me.” Overblown? Outrageous? Exactly!

Actor Dirk Benedict was born as Dirk Niewoehner in Helena, MT. He may be best known for playing the charming, handsome character “Lieutenant Templeton ‘Faceman’ Peck” in The A-Team and as “Lt. Starbuck” on both the film and television series Battlestar Galactica. Benedict has also made guest appearances on television series episodes such as: Alfred Hitchcock Presents, Baywatch, The Commish, and Murder, She Wrote. He will appear in a film version of the A-Team which stars Bradley Cooper and Liam Neeson and will be released in June of 2010.

Patrick Galen Dempsey, born in Lewiston, ME, started as a film actor playing characters who were rather bumbling, but charming, in college comedy films. The road from there to “Dr. Derek Shepherd” on Grey’s Anatomy travelled through a variety of roles including “Meyer Lansky” in Mobsters, a sci-fi film titled Out Break which starred Dustin Hoffman, as “Fast Eddie” in biker movie Me and Will, horror film Scream 3 as “Mike Kincaid, and several made-for-TV movies. His first role as a doctor (“Dr. Paul Stewart”) occurred in three episodes of the television crime drama The Practice. The following year he was cast as “Dr. Derek Shepherd” on Grey’s Anatomy and the rest is history.
Patrick Dempsey seemed somewhat displeased when he said: “Now I’m just known as McDreamy, I’ve lost all identity as Patrick Dempsey. I’m now McDreamy.” Honestly, we realize you are really Patrick Dempsey. It’s just fun to fantasize about Dr. McDreamy.

Charlton Heston was born John Charles Carter in No Man’s Land, IL. He may be best known for playing heroic characters in epic films such as “Moses” in The Ten Commandments, “Colonel George Taylor” in the Planet of the Apes, “Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar” in El Cid and “Judah Ben-Hur” in Ben-Hur a role that won him a Best Actor Academy Award. Among many other awards and honors,won by Heston are a Golden apple Award, the Cecil B DeMille Award, and two Lifetime Achievement Awards.
In speaking of the variety of roles he has done Charleton Heston once said: “I’ve played cardinals and cowboys, kings and quarterbacks, presidents and painters, cops and con-men”. Just goes to show how multi-talented he is!

Bruce Springsteen was born Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen in Long Branch, NJ and is a world famous and well loved musician. His breakthrough album, Born to Run was a critical and commercial success. His second successful album, Born in the U. S. A. sold 15 million copies in the U. S. alone. The album produced 7 top ten singles and is one of the best-selling albums of all time.
Springsteen has won many awards for his music. Among them are: an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Song, Streets of Philadelphia, an Emmy Award for the HBO special Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band: Live in New York City, and 19 Grammy Awards. He has been inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the New Jersey Hall of Fame. The song Born To Run was named “the unofficial youth anthem of New Jersey” by the New Jersey state legislature. Springsteen considered this ironic in view of the fact that the song is about leaving New Jersey.
Bruce Springsteen says, “When I was growing up there were two things that were unpopular in my house. One was me, and the other was my guitar.” Bet that’s changed now!

Nicolas Cage was born Nicolas Kim Coppola in Long Beach, CA. and is the nephew of famous director Francis Ford Coppola. He changed his name to Cage to have the chance to develop his own reputation. And he has been extremely successful. Many of the characters he plays are quirky, eccentric and flamboyant. Characters like “H. I. McDunnough” in Raising Arizona, “Ronnie Cammareri” in Moonstruck opposite Cher, “Cameron Poe” in Con Air, “Castor Troy/Sean Archer” in Face/Off, co-starring John Travolta, and “Ben Gates” in National Treasure and National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Cage won an Oscar for his portrayal of broken alcoholic Hollywood screenwriter “Ben Sanderson” in Leaving Las Vegas.
Nicolas Cage is as quirky, eccentric and flamboyant in real life as the characters he plays. He once said: “Hollywood didn’t know if I was an actor or a nut or if I was this crazy character I was playing. I had developed an image of being a little bit unusual, different and wild.” And that, folks, is what makes him the great actor he is.

David Hasselhoff and Friend
He was born David Micheal Hassellhoff in Baltimore, MA. You know him from Knight Rider, Baywatch Nights and Baywatch. And, of course, David Hasselhoff also played “Michael Knight” in the made for TV film Knight Rider 2000 and in one episode of the short-lived 2008 revival of Knight Rider. He can be seen in the film short To Live and Dine in L. A. and will appear in the film The Legend of the Dancing Ninja, co-starring Lucas Grabeel.
In addition to his acting, David Hasselhoff is a major recording artist in Europe. He attempted to break into the American music scene with a recording of Do You Love Me? but didn’t fare too well. His second attempt was a live pay per view concert. Unfortunately, it didn’t receive a lot of attention because it took place at the same time OJ Simpson was doing his famous L. A. freeway car chase(?).

St. Louis born Scott Stewart Bakula is an actor of both film and television. He may be best know for his role as “Sam Beckett” on the television series Quantum Leap. He was with the show during its five seasons and his performance won him a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Television Series Drama and four Emmy nominations. He also played the starring role of “Captain Jonathan Archer” in four seasons of Enterprise, a prequel to the Star Trek series.
Scott Bakula has made recurring appearance on many TV series episodes such as: Murphy Brown, Chuck, and The New Adventures of Old Christine. He is currently on a new series called Men of a Certain Age, also starring Ray Romano.
Here’s an interesting quote from Scott Bakula: “I like fantasy. I’ve always been the kind of kid who likes to dream about other things I could be and exotic situations I could be in.” I’m thinking the picture above just might drum up some fantasies of its own.
