Lou Diamond Phillips’ best known role was as Ritchie Valens in the film La Bamba, the name of the hit song that Valens recorded in 1958. Unfortunately, Valens’ career was shortened eithg months later when he died in a plane crash along with other great rock and roll legends Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper.
Phillips’ other notable film roles were Jose Chavez y Chavez in Young Guns, Monfriez in Courage Under Fire, and Cisco in The Big Hit. He is currently working on a new TV series called Longmire which will air in 2012.
