Omar Sharif was born Michael Demitri Shaloub in Alexandria, Egypt.  He began acting in Egyptian films before making his US film debut in Lawrence of Arabia.  He is also well-known for his performance in the title role of Doctor Zhivago and as “Nick Arnstein” , opposite Barbra Streisand, in Funny Girl and the follow-up film Funny Lady.  He starred as “Che Guevara” in the film Che, as “Francisco” in Behold a Pale Horse, and as “Bart” in the comedy film Oh Heavenly Dog starring Chevy Chase.
His role as “Sherif Ale” in Lawrence of Arabia earned him an Academy Award nomination and two Golden Globe awards, one for Best Supporting Actor  and one for Most Promising Newcomer.  He also won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Doctor Zhivago.
Omar Sharif once said:  “Making love?  It’s a communion with a woman.  The bed is the holy table.  There I find passion—and purification.”  Wow!!

Peter Steele, born Petrus T. Ratajczyk in Brooklyn, NY, was the lead singer, bassist and composer for the gothic metal band “Type O Negative”.  Steele and band members Josh Silver, Kenny Hickey and Johnny Kelly, combined gothic, doom and thrash metal elements with lyrics that emphasized themes of romance, depression and death.  They were nicknamed “The Drab Four” (as a tribute to the Beatles “Fab Four nickname).
Peter Steele posed for the nude centerfold of Playgirl Magazine in August of 1995 claiming he did it as a naïve publicity stunt.  In 2005 Type O Negative posted a picture of a tombstone with Steele’s name and the dates 1962-2005 starting rumors that he had died.  The band said this was also a publicity stunt to celebrate their signing with SPV Records.  Five years later Peter Steele did, indeed, die of heart failure at the age of 48.  In a 2007 interview with “Decibel” magazine Steele explained his recent change from atheism to identifying himself as a Roman Catholic.  He stated, “There are no atheists in foxholes, they say, and I was a foxhole atheist for a long time.  But after going through a midlife crisis and having many things change very quickly, it made me realize my mortality.  And when you start to think about death, you start to think about what’s after it.  And they you start hoping there is a God.  For me, it’s a frightening thought to go nowhere.”

Born Albert William Upton in Los Angeles, CA, Willie Aames is best known as “Tommy Bradford” on the 70s family comedy Eight Is Enough and as “Buddy Lembeck” on Charles in Charge.  While on Eight Is Enough Aames formed a rock band called “Willie Aames & Paradise”.  Although primarily a television actor he appeared in a few films, notably Paradise opposite Phoebe Cates and Zapped opposite Scott Baio.

Rory Calhoun was born Francis Timothy McCown in Los Angeles, CA.  He made his film debut with a small role in the musical comedy Something for the Boys.  His first featured role was in River of No Return which starred Robert Mitchum and Marilyn Monroe.  He appeared in several  westerns, musicals and comedy films before starring in the television western The Texan.  The show ran for two seasons and after its cancellation Calhoun continued acting in television and film, including Thunder in Carolina, Rawhide, Hawaii Five-O, and Starsky and Hutch. His last role was as “Ernest Tucker” in the film Pure Country.

Gregory Efthimios Louganis, born in El Cajon, CA is an Olympic gold medal diver.  At the age of sixteen he competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal earning the silver medal in the tower event.  Louganis won back-to-back Olympic gold medals in the tower and spring board events at the 1984 and 1986 Summer Olympics.  During the preliminaries at the 1986 Olympics he hit his head on the springboard and suffered a concussion.  However, he completed the primaries and went on to win two gold medals.
