Born John Gary Yurosek in Van Nuys, CA, Gary Lockwood is best known as Dr. Frank Poole in 2001: A Space Odyssey.  Lockwood started out as a stuntman and stand-in for Anthony Perkins.  His acting debut was in an uncredited role in the 1959 film Warlock.  Prior to Space Odyssey, Lockwood starred in to short-lived televisions series:  Follow the Sun and The Lieutenant.  His career after Space Odyssey was mainly appearances in many television series episodes including; The Six Million Dollar Man, The Streets of San Francisco, Police Story, Barnaby Jones,  Simon & Simon , and Murder She Wrote.
Speaking of his career Lockwood said: “I’m an actor.  I’ve done a little bit of everything.  An actor is kind of like a cowboy.  The show’s over on Sunday and then you ride off to the next gig.  Basically, that’s what show business is all about.”

Steve Austin was born Steven James Williams in Austin, TX.  He started as a pro wrestler for the WCW using the name “Stunning Steve Austin”.  In 1993, Austin and fellow wrestler Brian Pilman for a tag team known as The Hollywood Blonds.  Together they won the WCW World Tag Team Championship in March of 1993 and held the title for five months. In 1995 the WCW VP Eric Bischoff fired Austin stating he and the WCW didn’t see Austin as a “marketable” wrestler.  He then joined the WWF (now called the WWE) and used the ring name “Stone Cold Steve Austin.  Some of the titles he held while with the WWE are six Heavyweight Championships, three Tag Team Championships, two Intercontinental Championships, and Royal Rumble Winner in 1997, 1998 and 2001. He retired from wrestling in 2003 and was inducted into the Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2009.
Since retiring as a pro wrestler, Austin turned to acting.  He appeared in films such as The Longest Yard, The Condemned, Damage, and, most recently, an action/thriller called The Stranger.

Laurence Tureaud, better known as Mr. T, was born in Chicago, IL.  At one time, he was a bodyguard to stars such as Muhammad Ali, Steve McQueen, Michael Jackson, Leon Spinks, Joe Frazier and Diana Ross.  Sylvester discovered Mr. T and gave him a role in Rocky III as boxer “Clubber Lang”.  Tureaud joined the cast of The A-Team as gruff, touch, no-bluff “B. A. Baracus”.  After the demise of The A-Team, he was given his own crime series called T. and T. in the lead role of “T. S. Turner”.  The show lasted three seasons.  Other film credits include The Magic of the Golden Bear: Goldy III starring Cheech Marin, Judgment, and the comedy Not Another Teen Movie.
In explaining why he calls himself Mr. T,  Tureaud said:  “I think about my father being called ‘boy’, my uncle being called ‘boy’, my brother, coming back from Vietnam and being called ‘boy’.  So I questioned myself: ‘What does a black man have to do before he’s given the respect as a man?’  So when I was 18 years old, when I was old enough to fight and die for my country, old enough to drink, old enough to vote, I said I was old enough to be called a man.  I self-ordained myself Mr. T so the first word out of everybody’s mouth is ‘Mr.’ That’s a sign of respect that my father didn’t get, that my brother didn’t get, that my mother get”.

George Nader, born in Pasadena, CA was a film and television actor who won a Golden Globe Award in 1955 for Most Promising Newcomer.  He signed a contract with Universal Studios, however the studio already had several handsome, well-built male actors like Rock Hudson, Tony Curtin and Jeff Chandler, who overshadowed newcomer Nader.  He did appear in several films such as Carnival Story, Away All Boats, Phone Call from a Stranger, and as “Roy” the hero who saves the world in the low-budget 3-D sci-fi film Robot Monster. Nader also appeared in various role in several episodes of Fireside Theatre, Lux Video Theatre, and The Further Adventures of Ellery Queen. He was cast as “Dr. Glenn Barton’ in the adventure series The Man and the Challenge, and as “Joe Shannon” in Shannon.
When, in the mid 1950s it was discovered that Nader was in a homosexual relationship it ended his Hollywood career.  He and his companion, Mark Miller, moved to Europe, becoming the second most popular star in Germany.  In 1974, after sustaining an eye injury which caused extreme sensitivity to light and also developing glaucoma, George Nader retired from acting.

Robert Horton was born Meade Howard Horton, Jr. in Los Angeles, CA.  and played the role of “Flint McCullough”  on the long-running television western Wagon Train.  He also starred in another TV western called “A Man Called Shenandoah” which lasted only one season.  He appeared in many television series episodes such as Studio 57, General Electric Theater, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and several  films.  He played “Drake McHugh” in a special Warner Bros. Presents series called Kings Row.
Robert Horton has received several lifetime achievement awards including the Golden Boot, given to actors, actresses and crew members who have made significant contributions to western television and films, and the Cowboy Spirit Award.

Ruggedly handsome, sexy Jon-Erik Hexum  was discovered by Bob LeMond (John Travolta’s manager) and was thought to be the next big male star.  His first major appearance was in the role of “Phineas Bogg” in the short-lived adventure series Voyagers.  He was then cast as “Mac Harper” in the television drama series Cover Up.  During a break in the day’s shooting of the show, Hexum jokingly put a prop .44 magnum to his temple and pulled the trigger.  Although the gun was loaded with “blanks” the force of the wad hitting his temple caused  enough blunt force trauma to propel a small piece of his scull into his brain causing massive hemorrhaging.
Hexum  underwent five hours of surgery in an attempt to repair the damage, but was declared brain dead after five days on life support.  His mother allowed his body, which was still on life support, to be flown to San Francisco for organ donation.
Jon-Erik Hexum’s untimely and tragic death ended a career that had started with tremendous  promise.
