Huey Lewis formed the band Huey Lewis and the News in 1979. Original band members were Lewis, Sean Hopper, Bill Gibson, Johnny Colla, Mario Cipolina and Chris Hayes. Some of their top singles were Do You Believe in Love, I Want a New Drug, The Power of Love, She’s Some Kind of Wonderful and Little Bitty Pretty One. Although the band members have changed over the years Huey Lewis and the News are still performing.
Here’s a great new picture of vintage French actor Alain Delon. The speedo couldn’t fit him any better. Almost looks as though it was painted on. Enjoy!
Peter Lupus was a bodybuilder turned actor. He appeared in several muscle man films such as Muscle Beach Party, Hercules and the Tyrants of Babylon, and Challenge of the Gladiator. He was best known, however, as “Willy Armitage” on Mission: Impossible from 1966-1973 with fellow actors Greg Morrisn Peter Graves, and Martin Landau
Vintage actor Sam J. Jones played the title role in the 1980 film Flash Gordon. He also played a small part in the short-lived 2007 series Flash Gordon. Jones played “The Highway Man” in the series by the same name and “Chris Rorchek” in Code Red which starred actors Loren Greene and Andrew Stevens.
Using the name Andrew Cooper III he appeared as the centerfold in the June, 1975 edition of Playgirl Magazine
Vintage actor Gil Gerard appeared in small film roles and single appearances on television series episodes before he was cast as “Capt. William ‘Buck’ Rogers” in the TV series Buck Rogers in the 25th Century. The show ran for two seasons after which Gerard was a featured guest on several TV shows and starring roles in the series Sidekicks and E.A.R.T.H. Force.
Italian vintage actor Terrence Hill was best known for starring in many action and “spaghetti westerns” with his long time partner Bud Spencer. Their most famous film was Lo chiamvano Trinita (They Call Me Trinity) and its sequel Continuavano a chiamarlo Trinits (Trinity is STILL my Name). Hill said his favorite film is My Name Is Nobody which co-starred Henry Fonda. His first American films were Mr. Billion in the starring role of “Guido Falcone” and March or Die co-starring with Gene Hackman.
Vintage actor William Smith appeared in almost 300 feature films and television shows during his lengthy acting career. However, he may be best known as villainous “Anthony Falconetti” in the TV mini-series Rich Man. Poor Man and Rich Man, Poor Man Book II. He was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in Rich Man, Poor Man Book II. Among Smith’s many film roles was “Jack Wilson”, Clint Eastwood’s adversary in Any Which Way You Can, and “Conan’s” father in Conan the Barbarian.
Tall (6’2”) dark, handsome, and well-built, Smith was the final “Marlboro Man” before cigarette ads were discontinued on television.
Jean-Paul Belmondo’s breakthrough role was as “Michel Poiccard” in the French film Breathless directed by Jean-Luc Godard. Most of the many films to feature Belmondo were made in France and were mainly comedies and action films. He did appear in the title role of director Alain Resnais’ film Stavisky. The film was based on a true story concerning a 1934 political scandal referred to as the Stavisky Affair. Many consider this to be Belmondo’s finest performance.
Billy Warlock was Baywatch hottie “Eddie Kramer” from 1989-1992. Next stop was General Hospital in the role of “A. J. Quatermaine” from 2002-2003 followed by a few episodes of The Young and the Restless as “Ben Hollander”. He joined the cast of daytime soap Days of Our Lives in 1988 making recurring appearances as “Frankie Brady”. Warlock won a Daytime Emmy Award in 1988 for Outstanding Younger Leading Man in a Drama Series.
