Dolph Lundgren was born in Stockholm, Sweden.  He is an actor who embodies the “action hero” genre along with others like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Steven Seagal and Jean-Claude Van Damme.  Although he has a master’s degree in chemical engineering and was offered a Fulbright scholarship to attend MIT, Lundgren chose to study martial arts and turned his achievements in body building and Japanese Karate into a successful film career.
Dolph Lundgren’s film debut was in the James Bond film A View to a Kill.  His big break came as the Russian opponent “Ivan Drago” in Rocky IV. He starred opposite Jean-Claude Van Damme in Universal Soldier and with both Van Damme and Sylvester Stallone in Universal Soldier:  Regeneration.

Yul Brynner, born Yuli Borisovich Bryner in Vladivostok, Primorsky province, Russia had the exotic shaved head look long before it became popular.  Although he played many different roles, from gunslinger “Chris Adams” in The Magnificent Seven and Return of the Seven, a Cossack soldier in Tauras Bulba, a spy in The Double Man, “Chief Black Eagle in the film Kings of the Sun and Mexican bandit “Pancho Villa” in Villa Rides, Yul Brynner will always be remembered as the somewhat petulant, often demanding “King Mongkut” in the Rogers and Hammerstein musical The King and I.  He played the role on both the stage and screen and won an Academy Award for his film portrayal and a Tony Award for his stage performance.

Samuel Pack Elliott was born in Sacrament, CA.  He made his film debut in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  Elliott played “Doug Robert” on Mission Impossible and made guest appearances on several television series episodes.  He played “Gar” in Mask which co-starred Cher and Eric Stoltz,  “Wade Garrett”  with Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse, and “Virgil Earp”  in Tombstone.  Elliott did several films for TV such as Blue River,  You Know My Name, and Fail Safe. Antonio Banderas, whose birth name is Jose  Antonio Dominguez Banderas was born in Malaga, Spain.  He began his career in Spain at age 19 where he worked on films from 1982 to 1990.  One of the first American films Banderas appeared in was Academy Award winning Philadelphia.  He quickly became known as a handsome Latin leading man and starred in Desperado, Evita, opposite Madonna, The Mask of Zorro, with Anthony Hopkins, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, with Johnny Depp and Salma Hayek, and Thick As Thieves co-starring Morgan Freeman.  Banderas has also done the voice of “Puss in Boots” in the animated Shrek Films.  A new film in the Shrek series, Shrek Forever After, will be released in 2010 and “Puss in Boots” will be having his own film sometime in 2011.

Matt Dillon, who was born Matthew Raymond Dillon in New Rochelle, NY, started his film career as a teen star,  most often in role of troubled teens.  He acting debut was in a film titled Over the Edge followed by My Bodyguard, Little Darlings, and Liar’s Moon.  His next three films, Tex, The Outsiders (also starring Tom Cruise, Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze) and Rumble Fish made him the #1 US teen star.
